Mayak plant of Ozersk will get submarines` nuclear fuel from pacific
Production enterprise Myak of Ozersk (Chelyabinsk region) will store nuclear fuel from Russian submarines utilized at the Far East of Russia.

The utilization of five Russian submarines will be funded by Japan. The agreement between the two parties was signed on Thursday in Moscow by a senior officer of Federal Nuclear Power Agency of Russia Sergey Antipov and the Ambassador of Japan in Russia Yssey Nomura.

To date, there are 19 nuclear submarines waiting for utilization at the Far East coast of Russia, 13 more at Kamchatka peninsula.

The time terms of the project depent on the financing from the Japanese side. It is believed that the submarines will be utilized by the beginning of 2006. All the nuclear fuel will be permanently stored at the Mayak Plant in Ozersk.
